One of our three goals is to broaden the horizons of participants and staff (the other two are to serve God and to improve race relations in Alabama). One way we're working towards that goal is by offering a new mentoring program for students at Greensboro High School.
The program began with a pilot event, the Work Ready Workshop in March of 2017. Students and professionals gathered in Greensboro for a day-long workshop that covered resume writing, interview skills, and basic job skills.
In 2017 and 2018, the program will evolve. Six juniors from Greensboro High School will be paired with not one, but two mentors. One will be a college student and the other will be a working professional. Together, they will help the student build his/her resume, visit colleges or vocational schools, and connect them with job shadowing opportunities in his/her field of interest.
